Phil and I recently completed a really creative project for a client, and we wanted to share it here. A request came in to us for a custom-made lemonade stand for an elementary school auction. The client provided us with a set of specifications and some inspirational photos, and we took it from there. We were able to find a sweet mid-century modern bar that was the perfect size. It also functioned beautifully with two storage compartments and built-in cup holders. Once we had before photos of the bar, we pulled them into Photoshop and planned out a design for the piece there. The bar was a little higher than counter height with its original tapered legs, and we needed to piece to roll, so we replaced the legs with a set of shorter casters with brakes. We transformed the back panel of the bar into the front of the lemonade stand by painting it and installing a framed chalkboard on it (created using Rust-oleum chalkboard paint). We also built a simple trellis framing the newly assigned front, which we wrapped a flag garland (an Etsy purchase) around. We used Benjamin Moore Advance semi-gloss paint (our go-to), and a new line of low-adhesion Frog Tape to help us keep the stripes nice and crisp. We also wanted the hardware on this piece to coordinate with the chrome casters that we purchased, so we painted them with a chrome metallic paint. This project was more time consuming and labor intensive than we had anticipated, but we were very pleased with the end result.
Here are some before photos of this piece:

Set of 6 White Folding Chairs - SOLD
Phil and I suspect this set of folding chairs is vintage. They are are solid wood and comfortable to sit in. We hand-painted them with multiple coats of Muralo Quik-Tred (indoor/outdoor) paint over primer. Each chair measures: 18 1/2"W x 18"D x 29"H.

Set of 6 MCM Dining Chairs - SOLD
This listing is for a set of 6 vintage dining chairs. There are 4 armless side chairs and 2 captains chairs with arms. The chairs were manufactured mid-century. We suspect they are walnut. We stripped and stained the chairs. Then, we applied multiple top coats of polyurethane. We purchased the chairs without seats, so the foam, batting, and upholstery fabric are all brand new. The fabric is a high-end navy blue velour. It is luscious! The chairs measure: 19 1/2"W x 18"D x 32"H.

Teak MCM Media Console - SOLD
This mid-century modern media console underwent a pretty significant transformation. To give it fresh look, we removed the
skirt at the base, and we added vintage tapered wooden legs. We sanded the surfaces down, and used a combination of Watco Danish Oil and tung oil to achieve our desired finish. The track for the sliding doors goes all of the way across, and the back of this piece is nicely finished. This console measures: 69 1/2"W x 16 1/2"D.

Graphite MCM Nightstand - SOLD
Phil and I love this little chest of drawers for its clean lines and sleek metal drawer pulls. We thought it would look perfectly sophisticated in Benjamin Moore's Graphite.
Admittedly, we are a little obsessed with this color. ;) This piece was manufactured mid-century, possibly by Johnson Carper (although it is unmarked). It is very solid. All of the drawers slide well. They are constructed with dovetail joints. Modestly sized, this chest measures: 16"W x 14"D x 26"H.
Graphite + White Paint Dipped Chair - SOLD
The paint dipped look that this darling vintage chair is sporting is a look that we've seen around and we've drooled over. The chair is hand painted. The top portion is Benjamin Moore's Graphite. The bottom portion is White Dove. We think this chair pairs nicely with our Graphite campaign-style desk.
Single-Pedestal Campaign Style Desk - SOLD
The style of this vintage desk was inspired by 19th century British military
campaign trunks, which were specifically designed to break down into
sections, making them easy for soldiers to transport. The brass corners at that time protected the trunks from dings. Now they are solely decorative. We've seen these desks in a wide range of colors, but we chose to keep this one sophisticated in Benjamin Moore's Graphite. This desk measures: 42"W x 16"D x 30"H.
2-Piece MCM Media Cosole - SOLD
This media console was manufactured mid-century. We love simplicity of its lines and the quality of its build. We also love its versatility.
The new finish is multiple coats of Benjamin Moore Advance semi-gloss paint over primer. The color is White Dove. This piece measures: 49 1/2"W x 19"D x 23 1/2"H.

Gray Highboy w/ Glass Knobs - SOLD
This lovely chest of drawers was manufactured circa 1930. We rescued it from the curb in Newburyport, MA. It definitely needed some love. We hand-painted this piece with Benjamin Moore Advance paint, over primer. For a touch of glamor, we added the oval glass knobs. All of the drawers slide well. They are solidly constructed with dovetail joints, and the insides of the drawers are clean. The chest rests on metal casters. This piece measures: 34"W x 19"D x 45 1/2" H.
